Jorma Kaukonen Signature Riviera Deluxe
Semi-Hollow
Electric Guitar w/Bigsby
Serial No. 311389605 (Blem)
The Epiphone Jorma Kaukonen Signature Riviera is a stunning-looking
guitar with a beautiful maple top and gleaming gold hardware on the
cherry-red finish. But this real beauty of this ES-clone is that it
plays as good as it looks!
This Jorma Riviera Deluxe is the finest Epi ES-type (Dot, Casino,
Sheraton) guitar I've ever played. Strum it once unplugged and it
sings to life. The action is low, the feel is slick and buttery, and
it bends for days. This one comes with a real, gold-plated Bigsby
versus the Epiphone-branded "Vibratone" you see on many of the JK
Riviera's, and it's quality is undeniable. The guitar stays in tune
perfectly, even with heavy pushing and bending. The headstock
features Grover tuners and has Jorma's signature under the logo. The
fretboard, top and back are all ivory bound, and the workmanship is
top-notch except for a one small blemish on the rear of the guitar that
you will see in the photo below.
The Jorma sports a pair of Epiphone's '57 Classic Alnico V pickups,
and they sound wonderful. Control layout is the standard two
volume/two tone setup with three-way toggle. These pickups can give
you a mellow jazzbox feel but when you push them a bit is where the
fun begins. They excel at giving you the creamy distortion and
funky Gary Clark Jr sound you would expect.
I loved
playing this guitar. If you are a fan of ES semi's, this will not
disappoint. I don't have a hard case for this guitar, but it will
ship in a new gig bag. I'll package it very well to protect it from
damage. |
